PRODUCT LINE: ROTO-TORQUE Troubleshooting |
Problem: We can’t find the Technical Manual that originally came with the package. Solution: · E-mail or phone us and we will email or send you another technical Manual.
Problem: We know we are experiencing high torque but the gauge hardly registers. Likely Reasons: · Air is in the hydraulic signal line, gauge panel and/or Torque indicator itself. There can be no air in any of these three components otherwise it is no longer a hydraulic system, it is a pneumatic system. Air in the line cannot provide a reactive force against the piston in the indicator so no signal will result. · Faulty gauge or indicator
Problem: Air in the line. Likely Reasons: · During installation a hose other than the one supplied was used and was never primed with ATF using the hand pump supplied. · When priming the hose with the hand charging pump supplied, the pump was not continuously topped-up with ATF so some air was accidentally pumped into the line. · When the recorder was tee’d into the signal line the hose used was not primed. Solution: · Unhook hose from indicator. Install a female quick coupler to male quick coupler fitting atop indicator. · Couple Enerpac pump to bottom fitting of Roto-Torque indicator. · Charge polypack chamber with ATF until ATF flows out top female quick coupler. · Quickly remove female quick coupler. · At this point also check if the thrust bearing has been damaged from loss of charge simply by looking in the 1” NPT lube oil fill hole. · Gently insert small (6’’) prybar into 1’’ NPT oil filler hole atop indicator to check if piston is loose. · If piston is loose, indicator needs to be charged: hook prybar into one of the four camroller slots on torque sleeve, pulling torque sleeve toward fittings. While holding prybar, pump piston against thrust bearing and away from fittings until torque sleeve seats. With pump still coupled to bottom fitting on indicator, prime hose and gauge panel by opening gauge panel bleed valve and pumping oil from very bottom of indicator to very top of gauge (bleed valve). Stop when air no longer “burps” out bleed valve.
